Short on time?
There is still a lesson for you.
On a free evening, you can take a whole test and review it. On a busier day, pick a short exercise or go back over what you got wrong last time.

Which skill do you
want to practise today?
Listening
Follow the recording, pick out the details and check how you spell your answers. Start with one question type at a time.
Practise ListeningReading
Find the main idea, match the information and give extra time to the question types you still mix up.
Practise ReadingWriting
Read the task carefully, organise your ideas and write them up. Then look back at how you structured and phrased your answer.
Practise WritingSpeaking
Practise answering, talking about a topic and explaining your views. Get to know each part so you feel more confident when you speak.
Practise SpeakingA method for reviewing Reading
Find the evidence. Understand the trap.
Then check the answer.
A wrong answer only helps when you know what you missed. Don't copy out the whole passage or memorise the answers; keep the link between the question and the evidence in the text.
- 01
Find the right paragraph
Circle the subject, the key details and any limiting words in the question; then find the paragraph that says the same thing in other words.
- 02
Compare ideas, not words
Check negatives, quantities, degree and logical links. Matching words do not always lead to the right answer.
- 03
Keep one lesson
For every wrong answer, write one line about the evidence you missed or the trap that made you choose wrongly.
Common questions about reviewing Reading
Should I practise by question type or take full Reading tests?
Practise by type while a technique is still unreliable. Take a full test when you want to check your speed, how you move between question types and your accuracy over 60 minutes.
Do I need to translate the whole passage when I review Reading?
No. Read closely the paragraph that holds the evidence, the sentence structure that misled you and the paraphrase that links it to the question.
How do I know whether my problem is vocabulary or strategy?
Finding the right paragraph but not seeing how the ideas connect usually points to vocabulary or grammar. Understanding the paragraph but looking in the wrong place or falling for a trap usually points to how you work through the test.

Why did I build IELTS Life?
“I wanted a place
where studying keeps going,
session after session.”
I took IELTS and wanted somewhere to keep revising on my own. Every time I studied, I wanted to know how far I had come, which parts were still weak and what to spend more time on.
IELTS Life started from that wish. Take a whole test when you have time, a short exercise when you are busy, and look back at your results when you finish.
I hope you find a familiar place to study here too, so you can revise regularly and prepare better before you walk into the exam room.
Frequently asked questions
Before
you start.
I have never studied for IELTS. Can I use this website?
You can start with the introductory guides to get to know the test, then try each question type. If the exercises still feel too hard, spend more time on your vocabulary, grammar, listening and reading.
Do I need to create an account straight away?
You can read the guides and start the public exercises before you sign up. An account saves your history and tracks your study across devices.
How should I read my level check result?
The first result is a reference that helps you choose what to revise. A short test has limits, especially when it estimates Writing and Speaking scores. Compare it with your next attempts to understand your level better.
Should I practise question types or take full tests?
When one question type still trips you up, practise it on its own. When you want to check how you manage your time and work through a whole test, take a mock test. After each test, go back to the parts you got wrong.
